Tools We Use | The Right Stuff
Like any craft, filmmaking requires tools, and we have a lot of them. We’d like to think there aren’t too many (which could bog us down), or too few (if only we had…), but just the right amount for working at the highest levels of our craft.
Here’s a list of what’s in our toolkit.
In future blog posts we’ll have more information about these systems and how we use them. Stay tuned.
Three Red Digital Cinema Cameras - Two Epic Ws and a Komodo…
… are the heart of our work. When we say Red Cinema Cameras, we mean movies and series like David Fincher’s Mank - Oscar for Best Cinematography 2020 - Tom Hanks’ Greyhound, The Lord of the Rings, The Queen’s Gambit, Stranger Things, etc, etc. These cameras share top honors with a very short list of the best digital cameras in the world.
Our Dodge Ram 2500 Camera / Grip Truck…
… makes us mobile all over the West. It has everything we need to create lovely and sophisticated films for your enterprise. Apple boxes? Check. C Stands? Check. State of the Art Hive Omni Color LEDs? Check. Hammock? Check.
The Piper Cherokee 6…
… is just right for locations that need getting there faster than our truck can drive, but with more flexibility than commercial flights. This is the Grip Truck of the Sky, holding an amazing amount of gear plus two proficient pilots (Verité’s Tim & Erik) with over 1200 hours between them. We’ve used it to film in Las Vegas and Portland with excellent results.
The DJI Inspire 2 Aerial Drone is Stealth…
… and it’s included with every project! Here’s more information about our Aerial Services.
To quote DJI: “DJI RS 2 isn’t just a gimbal.
It is an unparalleled solution for dynamic cinematography. Every design element and feature is made to deliver industry-leading camera stabilization. Simply put, DJI RS 2 is crafted for you to master filmmaking.” True.
Our Tilta Float System floats like a butterfly…
… in tandem with the RS2 gimbal. It’s serious magic for smoothing out moving shots in a very, very efficient way. Like butter.
Benq SW321C Reference Monitor…
All of our films pass through it … combined with the Tangent Element control surface for perfect color before any of them are released. Why would we spend this much time and money? Because we actually care.
